Darien Community
Darien Community Park, located at Plainfield and Clarendon Hills Roads is the second largest park maintained by the District. Encompassing almost 20 acres, this park features 2 picnic pavilions, 4 tennis courts, 2 basketball courts, 2 sand volleyball courts, a soccer field, 2 playgrounds and restroom facilities. In September of 2000, the lit softball field was dedicated the Robert Counsell Memorial field in memory of long-time Park District President Robert Counsell who served on the Board of Commissioners for the district for 23 years.
Darien Community Park is also home to the VFW Memorial, paying tribute to all who have served in the Armed Forces.
The park was developed through a matching grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Darien Community Park has been the site of Darienfest for the last 17 years.
The south pavilion at Darien Community Park was constructed with a donation from the Darien Lions Club. Both the north and south pavilions are available for rent for your family or company picnics. The north pavilion will accommodate groups up to 75 people; the south pavilion up to 200. For pavilion rental availability call 630.655.6400. Picnic permits will be issued to residents beginning April 1 and non-residents starting April 15.
