SEASPAR, the South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation, is an extension of Darien and eleven neighboring communities whose commitment is to provide comprehensive recreation opportunities for residents with disabilities. Individuals with attention deficit disorder, autism, behavior disorders, cognitive delays, Down Syndrome, epilepsy, hearing impairments, learning disabilities, physical impairments, and visual impairments are all eligible for SEASPAR programs. The wide range of services provided include weekly programs, special events, Special Olympics, camps, leisure education, and so much more. Programs are available to children as young as three years old, senior citizens, and everyone in between. SEASPAR staff and volunteers are trained to work with behavior management, physical adaptations, and social concerns to ensure a positive experience for all those who participate. SEASPAR’s brochure, which can be obtained from your local library, community center, village hall and/or recreation center, lists all the programs available for the session. Why not check it out? There are many exciting opportunities waiting for you!
SEASPAR is on the Web, SEASPAR recently launched its web site, www.seaspar.org, an interactive site which allows users to view the season’s brochure as well as obtain schedules, maps, and other pertinent information. Highlights include downloadable registration and health forms, as well as the photo gallery which provides the opportunity for participants to see themselves on the web and to share pictures with family and friends. It’s a great informative, public relations tool which we hope will become second nature for SEASPAR families. For additional information contact SEASPAR, (630)960-7600.
If you or a member or your family needs special assistance or accommodations to participate in any of our park district programs, please indicate on your registration form.
